Communique from Fredonia

After a few days in Fredonia, I finally got some WiFi, in the Reed Library on the Fredonia State Campus (thanks to Jim).  We’ve been here since Saturday afternoon, after some problem travel.  We got stuck in Chicago for a night on the way, and had to fight for a distressed traveller room at a Chi-town Holidome. O’Hare was a mad house, and someone almost knocked Kelly over in our race to the hotel shuttle.  They ended up cramming 16 people into our 10 passenger van (with 3 in luggage space behind the back seat), and there was still an angry crowd left behind.

I hadn’t been in a Holidome for years; it was great, but we got there so late all of the resorty-type amusements were unplugged for the night. The good news was: it was Karaoke Night at McKenna’s, the Holidome Bar (sorry for the crummy interface, I promise there’s a payoff).

We met a few of the people, and they all were nice.  Most of the regulars were really serious singers, but they took pretty kindly to those of us who were stranded, especially the stranded Belgians, who had never seen karaoke before.

Once we got in to Buffalo, we stayed with the Mulvilles and then Jenny and Meegan picked us up and brought us to Fredonia.  Rob and Tam should arrive today and then we get started on wedding preparations. I’m actually hoping to get some work done now that I’m back online, and I’ll try to post some pictures a little later.

  • Payoff doesn’t even begin to describe those images, and three of them in particular. My summer has just been made.
