Kelly, Dan, Danielle, Trei, Aedan, Joseph, and I took a trip out to West Texas last week. We stayed in Alpine, hit up Marfa (and confirmed [twice] that Pizza Foundation is the best pizza in Texas), saw the McDonald Obsertvatory and learned about the Sun, and conquered Big Bend and stood about 20 feet from Mexico. Here’s the evidence.

your pictures are fantastic. marfa looks exactly the same. did you talk to any of the locals? when we were there they seemed to have mixed feeling about judd. it’s a fine line between savior and exploiter apparently.
i envy this road trip. and joseph kills me in that diaper, i don’t know why.
Other than the folks working at the bookstore and pizza place, I don’t think we saw any real Marfa townfolk. I think it was an off time, but I liked it anyway. We stayed in Alpine and got plenty of local flavor there, even saw a biker bluegrass 3-piece band who played outlaw songs on a uke, a washtub bass, guitar and harmonica. They also played “Meet the Flintstones.”
